Introduction
Yuanbao Mountain National Nature Reserve is located in the Rongshui Miao autonomous county, within the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region of China. The flora of Yuanbao Mountain National Nature Reserve is both abundant and diverse. The reserve is home to a multitude of plant species, including both common and rare varieties. Significant tree species found in the reserve include the Yuanbao Mountain fir, South China pine, long-bracted hemlock, Fujian cypress, Chinese yew, southern red bean tree, short-leafed podocarpus, red nanmu, and silver oak. These species not only contribute to the ecological richness of the reserve but also hold significant conservation value. The Yuanbao fir, in particular, is a unique species endemic to China, found exclusively in the Yuanbao Mountain area. The reserve also houses several ornamental plants such as boxwood, rhododendron, Michelia cavaleriei, Guangdong white orchid, and Manglietia. Additionally, the reserve is home to national second-class protected plants such as the Yuanbao Mountain fir, Fujian cypress, Chinese tulip tree, Emmenopterys henryi, and Machilus nanmu, as well as national third-class protected plants like the southern hemlock, South China pine, and long-bracted hemlock.
Fauna
The fauna of Yuanbao Mountain National Nature Reserve is similarly diverse, with a variety of animal species inhabiting the area. The reserve is home to several nationally protected animals, including the first-class protected black-necked pheasant. Additionally, the reserve hosts second-class protected species such as the rhesus macaque, assamese macaque, sambar deer, Chinese pangolin, forest musk deer, small Indian civet, serow, and silver pheasant. These species contribute to the ecological diversity of the reserve and highlight the importance of its conservation efforts. The presence of these protected species underscores the reserve's role as a vital habitat for wildlife, emphasizing the need for ongoing conservation and protection efforts to ensure their continued survival.
